The years burn…

Alright, so, I’m bored and alone right now. Nearly all of my friends are out of town right now, either visiting family, or shopping. The few who aren’t are busy preparing to leave tomorrow. Usually on days like this, I’ll spend time with my parents, since I don’t often get to do that during the week. Unluckily, this is their day off, and they’re going out to a party with some friends, so, I’m left to find something else to do. It’s not like this hasn’t happened before, it’s just usually I have other places I turn to find someone to talk to, or something to do.

The first of these things is IRC. I hang out on DALnet with a few friends I’ve known online for years. They’re not a backup or contingency plan for if I have no one else to do anything with or talk to, and in no way do they take second place on my roster of people to talk to. In fact, there have been times when I’ve told Ben I was busy, and didn’t play a a game with him, ’cause I was chatting on the intarwebs. But, sadly, there’s no one online tonight. I have a backup for when this happens though, which is watching Chris Pirillo live, at http://live.pirillo.com , and talking to the people in the chat room there, as the antics of Chris Pirillo never get old. But of course, as luck would have it, he’s out on a date with his wife Ponzi, so there’s no one to talk to in that chat room either.

Sometimes I’ll hangout on freenode, and talk to people in #WordPress. But of course, it’s full of idlers right now. So, as I sit here, listening to The Smashing Pumpkins(a band I don’t necessarily like all that much, just three of their songs) I find myself with nothing to do, other than blog about it. How… teenaged angst/emo of me, eh?

One might suggest that I watch a movie to find something to do. Problem is, I’ve already watched three movies today. I saw Transformers this morning, watched Reign Over Me this evening with my parents, and watched a movie about farmers on –TBS– PeachtreeTV today, which really blew. One might then suggest that I read a book, but sadly, I’ve read everything I have right now. I’m just waiting for Halo: Contact Harvest and Assassin’s Creed: The Invisible Imam to be released, and then come in the mail.

One might also suggest that I play a game or something, seeing as I’m quite the gamer most often. But I’m gamed out right now. I spent nearly all of yesterday playing Team Fortress 2 with Ben and Quin. Seriously, like.. 6.5 hours of it in total, four of those in a row. I tried the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock demo on my 360 the other day, and while I thought it was really cool, I’m not sure I’d be willing to buy it. $100 is a lot of cash for a game I might grow tired of quickly. Those two games alone have made me kind of tired of gaming, but to top it all off, I tried the Hellgate: London demo a few hours ago, which I found to be absolutely horrendously awful. I hated it with nearly every fibre of my being. People keep claiming it’s like Diablo II in a lot of ways, and while it is, it just.. bothers me. I don’t like the story, the gameplay, or the graphics.

The one thing I did like, however, was one of the quests in which you’re tasked with finding a young boy’s prosthetic leg. He decides to call himself Wart. Seriously. Wart’s leg? That’s awesome, as any Diablo fan will attest to. (I also like Wirt’s Third Leg in WoW, that’s awesome.)

Anyway, this post is getting long, and I have put quite a lot of effort into it, for what little I’ll get back. To sum it up, I’m bored, and I want someone to talk to, or something to do. I’ll just have to keep looking, but I’m even out of podcasts to watch. I’m bored bored bored bored bored, and if I don’t find something to do soon, I’m probably going to end up just eating and watching Seinfeld. Though with my luck, there won’t be anything on TV at all.

For the Horde!

Yes, so, I got into World of Warcraft, and The Burning Crusade.

Why? Because not only can I now easily afford the $17 a month, but Ben, Quin and Jeff all play it now, too.

We all bought it yesterday, ‘cept Quin, who has a level 69 or 70 character, and has been playing for literal ages.

Me, Ben, Quin and Jeff all went to Vancouver for the day on a fieldtrip through our school, to see the Vancouver Art Gallery. When we got back, however, we stopped by London Drugs and Adventure Electronics–a local “The Source by Circuit City”–to pick up WoW.

First, Ben bought WoW at London Drugs, ’cause I said I wouldn’t buy it ‘less he did.

Then I bought WoW at the same place.

Then Jeff got someone to get a copy for him out of the back, and he bought it. We then head out to The Source to look for The Burning Crusade.

They had two copies.

Ben couldn’t afford it.

Quin already owned it.

I bought it.

Jeff tried, but didn’t have enough cash, and has ever since called me a “whore” on a regular basis.

We then went out, had dinner at Wendy’s/Tim Horton’s, got a ride home with Quin’s parents, etc, etc,

and we all–‘cept Jeff, since his modem screwed itself over–played WoW for about three hours before we went to bed. It’s hawtsome. :D

Oh, the times they are a changin’…

Alright, so, as of late, I’ve started to partake in quite a few more “electives” as some call ‘em. Which are things you can … elect to do… Okay, fine, I’m doing some extra stuff ’round the school for extra credit.

This includes the following:

  • Helping out with extras to do with Fine Arts courses that Kaia–our Art teacher–has been running. This includes setting up stuff for the performance of “Cranked” that was put on for us a while ago, as well as grabbing art supplies in the morning on Wednesdays from her truck, and helping her bring ‘em in, when I’m not even in the course, and helping her out with the Digital Photography/Digital Media course she has been running.
  • Taking extra courses, like German 11 and “Human Growth and Development.”
  • Helping out with the “Habitat for Humanity” project, by helping out with recycling, and other stuff. I plan on helping them out with something called a ReStore, wherein they get cheap/free building materials, and sell them back to the community, where the proceeds go to the foundation. I also plan on working on their website, or something in a technical manner soon, because, well, I can do it.
  • Etc. ;)

Now, I’m not saying that helping out and doing extra work is out of character for me, it’s just nice to actually have the opportunity to do said things, and not get in hell for it. At any normal school I ever attended, I was always scolded for going above and beyond the role of “student.” At Horizons, the alternative school I attend, I feel more like the teachers are as much my peers as the students around me are, which is a very nice change. The environment is friendly, and they’ll work with you on anything you need help with–not that I need their help often. It’s usually them asking me to fix something technical, or help out another student ’cause they’re busy. ;)

While I still have a lot of difficulty when it comes to getting up in the morning, I find that I’m able to do it, because I’m looking forward to the wide array of courses I have to choose from. If anyone cares, here’s my current “schedule” each week:

  • Monday: Get up at 6 AM, go to the weight room up at Chatelech–the local Secondary school — at 7, and work out for just over an hour. Then head down the hill to Horizons, and get ready for German class. I usually end up spending half an hour in the morning sitting around, perhaps studying my vocabulary for an upcoming quiz, and then, at 9, when school starts, we’re given an additional half hour to study –Additional for me, at least. Not everyone gets there at 8:30 AM. ;) — and then Rich –teacher and close friend — has us do this weird.. uh, ritualistic.. thing, wherein all the students and himself list the highs and lows of their weekends. For instance, my high might be staying up ’til 3 AM playing Gears of War with Ben on Saturday night, and my low … would be the same thing. Sleep is important. ;) Anyway, after that, it’s German time. We spend ’til about 9:50 doing a quiz, and then there’s a break — A break from what, you ask? I don’t quite know, but there you go. — until 10:05, when we resume our class. We do schoolwork, then, ’til 11:15 or so, and then at 11:30 we head out for lunch. Every day at school is pretty much the same for lunch. We walk a block and a half to Sergio’s, the local pizza place, which is awesome — I’m good friends with the owners. — and we eat. At 11:50ish, we head back, and get to school just about on time. Then we do schoolwork ’til 1:30, and then it’s P.E. time. Physical education varies between months, but lately it’s been Basketball. Luckily for me, it ended today. I suck at basketball, and I don’t much like it, either. ;) Anyway, after that, I head home.
  • On Tuesday, I get up at 6 AM, and do the same work-out thing. Every.. oh, say, three or four Tuesdays, me and Ben help out with the Habitat for Humanity recycling effort, and go from 8:30 ’til 9:30. We then go back to school, stay ’til Lunch, and either take a long lunch, or save our half-hour of free time due to volunteering for something else. After that, it’s time to do whatever main course I’m focusing on at the time. For now, that’s Social Studies. Then, at 1:15, it’s break, and shortly thereafter we head over to the gym for physical education once more. Then home.
  • On Wednesday, I sleep in. And by sleep in, I mean I get up at 7:30. I then either catch the bus at 8:40, or get a ride with someone to school. If I get a ride, I help Kaia out with bringing in the art supplies sometimes, and then go to Human Growth and Development. That lasts all day with sporadic breaks.
  • On Thursday, guess what? I go to the weight room/gym again! When I get to school, I sometimes help Kaia bring in the supplies for photography/digital media, and then, at 9, I spend all the time ’til lunch taking pictures, messing around in Photoshop, etc. After lunch, I work on whatever my main course is, and then at 1:15, head over to the gym, for HOCKEY! After that, home.
  • On Friday — if I even attend, that is… I’m really bad at getting up on Friday mornings. — I get up at 7:30, take the bus or get a ride at 8:40ish, get to school, and try my hardest to stay awake. If I am able to stay awake, I, like everyone else there, get little-to-nothing done. I’m just too sleepy. At our usual lunch time, we’re dismissed. I then get to wait several hours to get the bus home, or, like this Friday, I get a haircut.
  • On Saturday, I sleep in. No really. Like.. ’til noon. It’s really very silly. I get stuff done, or play games/watch Smallville all day. That’s it.
  • On Sunday, I wish it was Saturday, and I spend the day getting ready for school the next day, and relaxing. I either sit around watching Smallville, or I play games, or I do something homework related, or I fix someone’s computer. Sometimes I go shopping, and those Sundays are awesome. At 10 o’clock PM, I watch Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. At eleven, I go to bed, only to wish I hadn’t stayed up to watch Studio 60, as I’m now going to get around 7 hours of sleep, or 6 and a half. Silly, silly me.

Speaking of television, on Wednesdays I watch LOST, and on Thursdays I watch Ugly Betty. Other than that, I don’t watch a lot of TV that isn’t like.. the Discovery Channel just before bed, or something.

This post has gotten ridiculong(TM), so, it must end.

It keeps you runnin’…

Yes, so, uh, I’ve not posted in a while. Here’s what has been goin’ on:

This Wednesday–I think it’s this Wednesday –I start a new “Human Growth and Development” class about … well, human growth and development.

German class is going well, I’m still able to comprehend everything, yay me.

Me and Ben beat Gears of War on Casual, and now we’re half-way through Act I on Hardcore. Not that big of a difference, ‘cept you get shot a whole helluva lot more.

Ben’s mom is out of town ’til Monday. She went to San Diego, I think, and so ’til then Ben has the car all week. That means he’s giving me a ride on Wednesday and Friday, and in return, I’m buying him breakfast on Wednesday. Yay!

In Guild Wars Factions, the “Canthan New Year Festival” just ended. It basically was the same as the Chinese New Year festivals, and I got to spend a few hours chasing around a Celestial Pig. It was hawtsome beyond belief.

Anyway, that’s about all I have to say, other than Zip.ca hasn’t sent me any Smallville in a while, and I want to know what happens next!

Oh, and Ugly Betty is awesome.

I, Me, Mine, I, Me, Mine, I, Me, Mine…

Bought stuff today.

Well… maybe I should start at the beginning… *cue flashback effects, and weird harp music…*

Woke up, got out of bed. Dragged a comb across my hea–wait, those are Beatles lyrics..

I got up at around 8:30 AM today. Had a shower, got a chance to use my new “Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner“, and it works well. I decided to clean out my bathroom, and realized I needed some new toiletries. (i.e, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.)

I figured since I was planning on going shopping today anyway, I’d pick ‘em up later.

After all of that, I booted up Mjolnir, and proceeded to watch the last disc of Smallville Season 2. It was pretty good.

I then realized I hadn’t anything to do for a few hours, so I figured I might as well play some Guild Wars: Prophecies. I finished a mission at Fort Ranik, and then logged off as I had to get ready to go out.

Basically, after that, I got dressed twice –Didn’t want to wear the grey shirt again today, went for the pink. Does it matter? –and went upstairs to wait for my mom.

She came home, we had lunch, and then I decided to read up on GW and stuff to kill a half of an hour, since she didn’t want to go out ’til she had taken a break. I did so, and then we headed out to London Drugs.

It took about 40 minutes to get there, due to horrendous traffic, but we were there. We went in, waited around for 12 minutes ’til someone finally offered to help us –Only after I told my mom we needed to look “rich and stupid.” We started thumbing through our wallets, looking at displays for Vista and what not, and put a glazed-over look in our eyes. Immediately someone came over and offered to sell us Vista Ultimate. I said we were just looking for Office 2007 Student and Home edition, they went into the back, said they couldn’t find it, and offered to sell us the Standard edition. They then asked a superior to help them, they checked the stock online, and found that they should have 13 copies of Student/Home there, went into the back and “managed” to find a copy, though it was all dinged up and scratched.

Anyway, we took it. I also went to look at the games, and decided to get Guild Wars: Nightfall Collector’s Edition. It was the only GW campaign/chapter I didn’t have, and I was in a GW mood.

We bought those items, and then left the Electronics/Computer department. After this, we picked up shampoo, soap, toothpaste, floss, socks, bottled water, chips, Tic Tacs, and pretty much everything else we saw. ;)

We finally left, and didn’t have far to go to get to the van, since we had gotten a great parking space beforehand, right outside of the door.

We left, and had a mostly uneventful drive home. Once home, I proceeded to install Office 2007 on Nasir (my lappy! Yay!), Sakura (my mom’s lappy, yay!) and Freya (my dad’s computer, now-a-days…)

Then I had dinner, went downstairs, and booted up Mjolnir again. I installed Nightfall, and by that, I mean I registered the key with my account, downloaded the extra soundtrack, ripped the soundtrack CD that came with it, and added my special “PCGamer Exclusive Minipet and Mission” code that I had gotten ages ago during the prerelease.

I was going to start playing Nightfall, or maybe just stick with Prophecies for now, but Quin was on Skype, and he said Ben had just been on. I decided to call him, and I left a message on his machine. I then decided to watch “The Making of Nightfall” to pass the time ’til he got back.

Half way through he came on Skype, we talked at great length about why Guild Wars rocks, and why he should get Prophecies, etc, etc, and Quin watched clips of Family Guy on YouTube.

We then finally started playing BF2, and continued to do so for many hours. From.. 8PM ’til .. 12:30 AM. Anyway, I made it to Gunnery Sergent, unlocked the Support class weapons, and decided to write this post ‘fore I went to bed. I am le TIRED.

P.S. I also watched Once More With Feeling again this morning. ;)
