December Update 02
Well, it has been way too gorram long since I posted an update, and since there’s no way I’m going to remember everything that has happened thusfar, I’m going to just… pick out little details as I go along, and sadly, they will be in no particular order.
I’ve seen a crap-tonne of movies. Here’s a few. 1408, Eastern Promises, Balls of Fury, Reno 911: Miami, Love Actually… and that would seem to be all I can remember. I bought Eastern Promises on DVD the day after seeing it, because it’s so hawtsome.
I watched all of Cowboy Bebop for the first time. It’s .. so good. Sadly, as usual, it had to end. Why does that always happen?
The Writer’s Strike is bothering me. I want more Ugly Betty, Chuck, Smallville, and a better half-season of Heroes.
Jeff (Powell River Jeff, not Sunshine Jeff, as I have been calling the Bursenator as of late.) is coming down to visit for few days. From the 28th ’til the 31st. Not long, but I plan on spending New Year’s Eve with either my parents or my friends… depending on who has better plans. ;)
I’ve started playing World of Warcraft again. Don’t know if I said that in my last post. I’m now level 59 and in Outland/Draenor. It’s.. pretty damn awesome. At least Terrokar forest is. I don’t like Hellfire Peninsula in the slightest. But as of writing, Christa’s hunter Marallel is at level 56, and she’ll be killing Infernals and Blood Frenzied Orcs with me in no time. Apparently running the Hellfire Ramparts yields items as good as those of Molten Core, so… I’m looking forward to that.
When I was in Azeroth, all of my gear matched. Seriously, everything had a colour scheme, and it all matched my character’s complexion and hair colour perfectly. Since hitting Outland, however… it’s not the same. My vest is .. not red anymore. It still looks good, mind you, but it’s not great. Sadly, the next gear I have to replace is my pants, and the only pants I can get from a quest are Whorepants.
Anyway, that’s enough WoWtalk for now. I’ll say one last thing, though. I’ve been playing constantly for so long since I started playing again that my bones hurt, man. My BONES. Furthermore, my right ear is ringing from sitting beside my computer for so long, so.. I’m taking a break from using Mjolnir for the week, which’ll be easier since Jeff is here… though he’ll probably want to play Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, which I got for the PC.
Speaking of games I got.. here’s my Christmas haul as of yet:
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PC)
Unreal Tournament 3 Collector’s Edition (PC)
Eastern Promises
A $20 iTunes Gift Card
… some other stuff I can’t remember.
Wii
Wii Points Card
That’s it.
Oh, speaking of the Wii, I had to send it back to Nintendo, as it overheated while in WiiConnect24 mode, and screwed itself over. Great, eh?
When I get it back, I’m turning WiiConnect24 off, and maybe finding a new place to put it.
I don’t know if I mentioned it, but I bought Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and it’s awesome. Sunshine Jeff got it too, for Christmas. Now we just need to wait for Quin and Ben to catch up.
Apparently Ty is playing WoW now, and I lied about stopping the WoW talk. He’s playing on either the Alliance or the Horde… not sure yet. If Ben has his way (as Ben is the only one of us not playing on the Horde) he’ll make Ty play with him, but that’s just wack, man. That’s just wack.
Okay, what else..
I’m tired. For some reason I can’t get to bed ‘fore 2 AM these days, and I even stayed up ’til 4 AM yesterday. I was at Quin’s ’til 3:06, though, so… there you go.
Honestly, I can’t think of anything else to post right now, so I guess I’ll end this post with a link to my Character Profile on the WoW Armory. Though for the record, it’s kind of bugged. I show up twice on the list, once in Super Friends, and once in Bladefist. I’m not in Bladefist anymore, but my profile (even if you click on the Super Friends link) shows me as being in Bladefist. Just thought you should know I’m not.
…
Bladefist sucks.
P.S. Mass Effect blows. I wish I hadn’t decided to buy it without trying it first. BioWare has never screwed up… ’til now.

First of all, I guarantee that this post will make no sense, and if you read it, you will be left with wondering: “Was he on drugs when he wrote this, or something?”
The answer, is, of course, no. I just wrote a post without having anything to write about.

Don’t you hate it when you’ve been watching a show for a while, and you fall in love with the characters, and you look forward to seeing a new episode every week… when suddenly it’s over?
I mean, with some shows, like Seinfeld, Friends, and any of the Star Treks other than “Enterprise”, it felt right. It had gone on for long enough, and needed to end.
Other shows end, and while they still felt like they should, you are left wanting more. Shows in this category for me are Buffy, Angel, The West Wing, Star Trek: Enterprise, Clone High, Undergrads, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Firefly, Drive, and any anime I’ve ever seen.
The point of this post that seems to thus far have merely pointed out facts everyone must come to live with?
I miss Studio 60! It had so much promise! It was the Firefly of the drama/comedy sitcom world!
I just watched the finale today, and what makes it worse, is at the end, one of the main characters says something that feels like a season finale, not like a series finale. It kind of teases you, and says: “We’ll be back in a few months!” because it was written before knowing the show would be cancelled.
I hate that.
What’s worse, is you know for a fact it’s over. For months I kept telling myself: “No, it’ll pull through! They won’t cancel it! I’m sure there’s a big enough amount of people who are smart enough to understand the subtle nuances of Aaron Sorkin’s comedic style!”
But I was wrong.
NBC has officially announced that they’re releasing a DVD set entitled “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: The Complete Series” (much like Firefly’s release) on October 17th, 2007. That’s sad. SAD.
And, of course, seeing as I love the show, I’ll probably end up buying the DVDs of it, even though it doesn’t have a lot of “rewatch value”, like the West Wing had.
Anyway, I’m just sick and tired of great shows being cancelled. Firefly, Drive, Studio 60.. all gone! For no reason!
It seems anything Nathan Fillion is in is cancelled, as he was in Buffy’s last season, on an episode of Lost just before a giant ratings drop, he was of course in Firefly as well as Drive. All cancelled. All without reason.
And why is it most Anime only runs for one season? Like: “Wow, look how great this is! But you only get 13 episodes! Or, if you’re lucky, 25!” What the hell? Western shows get hundreds of episodes. Damn Japanese studios and their damn short animes!
And the short ones are always the best, too. ‘cept for Ranma 1/2. That is 7 seasons long, each with 20-some-odd episodes, two movies, seventeen OAVs, and a sequel series “Ranma Forever” that was also long. It’s also my favourite anime, as it has everything an anime should. Hilarity, romance, comedy, outrageous plot lines, etc.
…Anyway, this post has gotten far too long, as I started off ranting about nothing, and never made a point.
Oh, and if you’re wondering why it’s entitled “Ievan Polkka“, it’s because a song that shares the same title by Loituma is stuck in my head right now. Jus’ Google it or something.

So, it’s nearly 2007, and I have just one thing to say:
It will be an awesome year in gaming.
Seriously, check this out:
- Assassin’s Creed
- Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
- Enemy Territory: Quake-Wars
- Half-Life: Episode 2
- Halo Wars
- Halo 3
- Mass Effect
- Portal
- Team Fortress 2
- Unreal Tournament 2007
(note: List is in alphabetical order, not the order in which I am most excited about. ;))
I mean dude, that’s just awesome.
Anyway, I have to get a job. No seriously. Games = ‘spensive, money = hard to come by when you just fix computers for people off and on all year. I don’t know where I’ll work yet; perhaps a video store, or a computer repair place. All I know is I’ll be working on my resume as of January 9th–when I get back to school– and I plan on having a job by April 5th –my birthday (and also First Contact in the Star Trek universe).
Eh.. where was I…
Oh, yes. 2007.
Anyway, 2007 = New Hotness. 2006 = Old and Busted. (Not that 2006 wasn’t awesometastic, mind you. It’s easily the best year I’ve had in a long while. :D)
P.S. I started watching Ah! Megami-sama again.
P.P.S. I’ve also updated the Movies page once again to reflect my most recent purchases: There’s Something About Mary, Syriana, X-Men, and X-2: X-Men United.
One helluvan update.
Okay, so maybe “helluvan” isn’t a word. I refuse to say helluva followed by a vowel. Sosumi.
My first PC Gamer finally came here. It rocks.
I’ve added a new album to my gallery and upgraded it to a newer version. Took a while, but ’twas worth it.
Because I’m too cheap and/or lazy to buy a Flickr PRO account, and zeeble won’t buy me one either, I decided to go back to using G2 for more than just screenshots. So, in short, (or long, rather), I’ve added a Photos album, with at least one sub-album. W00. I also renamed the gallery “TLC_G2: The Gallery of The Lazy Canadian”, just because the weird name that was en francais I had before was… tres lame. ;)
In other news; I’ve really gotten into photography. At least for now, that is. I’m planning on taking a photography course as soon as school is back in session, but there’s always the chance that I won’t get in, seeing as the last two years I’ve applied, but not soon enough. Here’s hoping I get in. (Wish me luck!)
Other than that, my life has been as it always is during the summer: Long.
The last discs of Buffy S4 came, and I watched them.
The last discs of Medium S1 are here, I’m in the midst of watching them.
I got a copy of Azumanga Daioh, and I’ve been watching it.
I bought Kill Bill Volume 1 and 2 for $20ish, and I’m going to watch them.
I rented “She’s the Man” and “Pride & Predjudice (2005)”, and I watched them.
Ranma 1/2 DVDs are in the mail, and I’mm’a watch them.
Basically, other than take photos, and go for hikes/swimming, all I do during the summer is… watch TV or movies.
Boring, yes, but I can’t apply for a job ’til September as well, seeing as Ben apparently has an “in” with one of the places I want to apply at, and if I get a job during the school year, I get credit.
I asked my mom to pick up the “driver’s guide” book… manual… thing, so I can take the first test. Why? Because I’m so bored I’ve decided to learn to drive. I don’t really want to, but what else is there to do? At least this way when I want to go to Gibsons, I don’t have to convince one of my parents to go. (I could take the bus, yes, and I wouldn’t be bored, seeing as I’d have my PSP, but I don’t like taking the bus, because it limits the time I can spend wherever I’m going, since I have to keep the schedule in my mind.)
Eh.. what else (long post, ’cause I haven’t posted in a while.)
Oh.
I still haven’t recieved the free Gentoo CDs that I sent away for. I suppose I’ll just have to wait, but when they get here, I plan on setting aside a week to install it. :X
I’ve been spending quite a bit of time on IRC again lately, and I’ve met most of the people that I fell out of touch with again. I must say I’ve missed ‘em.
Anyway, for the last few sentences, I’ve just been trying to check every li’l category box. And while I’m certain I could easily do so, by yelling something out about norse mythology and … uncategories, I won’t. Though now that I have… I’ll check the rest of the boxes anyway. (My Xbox isn’t used much anymore, my dad is taking care of my old computer, I like playing M:TG, uncategories ftw.)
Fun while it lasted.
I beat Final Fantasy VIII again. I don’t know how many times I’ve beaten it, but it’s at least… six times. I’ve gotten to the final battle many more times than that, it’s just that the final battle and ending movie are so long, that I usually just don’t feel like beating it. Anyway, that’s nothing. I’ve beaten Final Fantasy VII upwards of 40 times now, final battle and all. At least it’s a fun one.
Ben bought The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II, and while on a bit of a break from his summer plans, we played it. All week. He goes home tomorrow, and it’s already 9:35 tonight, so I doubt we’ll play it much more before he gets back next Saturday (August 5th.)
Now that I’m sick of Zero Hour, BFMEII, and FF8 (The first two for a week, the third for a few years) I’mm’a take a break from gaming, I suppose, and go back to watching BtVS, and anime.
I’m still waiting for The Traveling Wilburys Volumes One and Three in the mail, and no new Zip.ca discs have come for quite some time. I’ve sent back the four I had out, and they claim to have sent two back to me. They’re just not ‘ere yet. The estimated arrival date at their website is July 26th and 28th for discs 4 and 5 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 4, and they haven’t as of yet recieved the two Frasier discs I sent ‘em. After they do, more discs of Medium should be on the way, but I dunno. Last time I had Medium next up on the list, they sent me Frasier, which was near the bottom. Go figure. For now, I removed Frasier from the list, since it turns out I’ve seen almost all of Season One anyway. I replaced it with the first season of Ranma 1/2! :D
Anyway, for the next week and a half, I’ll be spending my extra time watching Buffy and anime, and perhaps a few movies, but other than that, I really have no plans. I think I’mm’a get back into Empire at War though. Just ’cause I didn’t give it much of a chance in the first place. Or maybe I’ll play the Evil campaign of BFMEII, since I’m on the last mission of the good one.
