03/31/2010 – Savings

So I’ve left hints here and there across the intarwebs that I’ll be going on a trip pretty soon. I’ve been preparing and saving up for that trip, and I finally got my vacation pay today, which was pretty much the last major thing to cross off of my pre-trip list.

That said I still have a few errands, etc, but they’ll all get done in due time. I’m tres excited.

(I wasn’t sure if it was some great faux pas to take a picture of a wad of cash as my photo, but I really couldn’t think of anything else to photograph today as it was pretty significant to me.)

(P.S. I hardly ever have actual cash on me, so don’t think if you mug me this is what you’ll get. :P)

03/30/2010 – Stolen

Today I finally was able to finish a great book I had been reading by Kelley Armstrong–Bitten. I received two copies of the book from the publisher by mail as part of a giveaway/newsletter thing they run to get feedback on books, etc.

I had some reservations about the book at first, since with a name like Bitten it seemed it would be another trashy new vamp novel, but it ended up being about werewolves. I still wasn’t sold, but gave it a chance, and loved it.

And when I found out that it wasn’t new, and was part of an ongoing series, I was ecstatic. The series “Women of the Otherworld” has a good 10 or so novels/stories in it, and has been going since 2000 or so.

That’s great news for me, since I had been looking for a new series to read for a while now, and I especially needed something to read during my ever-so-close trip in April.

Anyhoo, today I bought the second book in the series (Stolen) and will start reading it tomorrow at work. … or tonight if I can’t resist.

03/29/2010 – Ease of Use

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it in the past, but a big part of my job is taking photos of the new inventory our store brings in from Costco. This means I take 50+ photos a week at my work alone (albeit with our cruddy work camera) and edit each and every one.

Insofar I’ve been using Irfanview to edit them, but since my boss is looking at launching our website again, she decided to pick up a copy of PSE. That’s fantastic news, as it’ll make my life infinitely easier when it comes to photo editing at work.

03/28/2010 – P in a B

Today my Mom and I decided to try our hand(s) at making Pigs in a Blanket. We used normal hot dog wieners, Pillsbury Croissant Roll dough (the kind that comes in a can), and made some chili with ‘em.

They were delicious! I had never had them before, but for some reason I wanted to try them today. I was pretty happy with ‘em, although shortly after dinner the power went out, and that kind of blew.

It’s coo’ though, since just before the power went out we also made Pillsbury Grands (with Cinnabon cinnamon, whatever that means) and they were delicious.

You’ve got to look on the bright side, am I right?

P.S.  I didn’t eat all that was pictured–it was too much food. :X
