WordPress 2.0.5

I don’t know about any body else, but I’m getting absolutely sick of updating WordPress. It takes a whole 3 minutes out of my life each time! Although I suppose it’s better than not ever having any updates. That’d equate to huge holes and blog hijacks. … so uh.. in closing.

Thanks, WordPress. ;)

When updating WordPress from 2.0.x to 2.0.5, all you really need to do is replace a few files. Now, there’s a list of the files that need replacing at Mark Jaquith’s website, one of the guys who works on WordPress and idles in #wordpress on irc.freenode.net, and it’ll tell you exactly what needs to be replaced.

But when I do it, I just replace wp-admin, wp-includes, a few files in wp-content, and all of the base files in the wordpress directory.

Now if that made no sense to you what-so-ever, don’t worry, you could always ask someone to do the update for you. Just need to find someone who you trust (i.e., not me) who will do it for free/for $5 bucks.

Also, depending on who hosts your community/blog/forum/awesome-deal-website, they might offer to update WordPress for you, as a service.

If they do that, they need to keep all of your files intact, or you can go: “Oi! I’m switching to a new host!” and what not.

Anyway, this probably made little-to-no sense, seeing as it’s 10 PM, I got no sleep last night, and I’ve been watching the first season of LOST for the last five hours.

Good luck with your WordPress upgrade; and feel free to ask me via e-mail or just via comments on this post if you have any questions.

Keep up the good work, Boo!

    SmartCanucks.ca rocks! ;D
