All You Need is Love [Reprise]

Alright, I’m writing this post from an apartment/inn/thing in Burnaby.

I’m sick, they’ve got free wi-fi, I’ve got my laptop. W00t.

Anyway, I’ve got a cold, and I feel like crap.
I started getting sick a few days ago, and it’s only gotten worse. Also, you can’t drink the water in the Greater Vancouver Area, due to “contamination.” So I’ve easily spent upwards of $30 on bottled water thus far. -_-

We–we being me, my mom, and my dad–came down to Vancouver to see the Lipton Just For Laughs Comedy Tour 2006 at the Orpheum. It was AWESOME. Like, I knew it would be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I couldn’t comprehend how awesome it actually turned out to be. Greg Proops was hilarious, as was Tim Nutt, and really everyone there. I don’t regret going at all.

After that, we went back to the inn/hotel/not-a-hotel-but-an-apartment-complex-that-has-a-hot-tub-I-will-not-be-getting-any-use-out-of thing, and slept. Next morning–this morning–we went out to IHOP for breakfast. Took just shy of an hour to get our food, but it was well worth the wait. As usual, it was awesome. Anyway, after that we went back to the aptly named “place where we are staying” for a while, ’til we set out on the SkyTrain for our various destinations. I was headed to Metropolis at Metrotown to see Happy Feet at the SilverCity there, and then do a bit of shopping. My parents both went to downtown Vancouver to do some gambling. As of this writing, they’re not home yet.

At Metropolis the first thing I did was go to the His Master’s Voice–Or as you damn kids know it, HMV–and buy the latest Beatles “album”, “Love.” Originally a part of Cirque de Soleil, Love is a “mashup”/”remix”/awesometasticnessoscity-filled thing that puts a new spin on old favourites. And since the CD sounds awesome, I can’t wait to see how great the DVD-Audio disc that it came with is on my new Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic. :D

Anyway, after that I head down to the ground level to look around, and then saw my movie.

It was good. End of story. The funny thing was that I noticed I head been hearing the Beatles everywhere since I got to Vancouver.

On the way to the ferry at Langdale, I heard “Ticket to Ride” and “Drive My Car” on the radio. On the Ferry, a few people were humming various Beatles songs that I caught, including “All You Need is Love”, “Cry Baby Cry”, and “P.S. I Love You.” After that, at the apartment thing we’re staying in, on the TV, while waiting for my parents to be ready to go, (Was that as many commas as I think it was?) I heard “Baby, You’re a Rich Man” and “Yesterday” on two different channels. After that, on the SkyTrain someone was humming “Because.” On the way to the Orpheum from Granville Station, a busker was singing “Hey Jude.” I gave him a loonie, and kept going. And in the comedy routine of Jim David during the show, there was a mention of the Beatles, and steam-powered iPods. (At least I *think* it was Jim David… it might have been Joey Elias, though.) When we got back to the apartment/thing I watched TV before I went to bed, and there was a show on Bravo about the Beatles. Next morning, the Beatles’ “Revolution” was playing on the radio at the IHOP we were at. At HMV, the Beatles’ “Get Back” was playing when I walked in. Anyway, the movie I saw at SilverCity, “Happy Feet” starts and ends with lines from a song by the Beatles, “The End.” Which, by the way, is awesome.

So yeah, movie = good.

After the movie, I went down to the ground level to look for a washroom, when I saw a Wii display. Not only a display, but four fully functional consoles with Wiimotes for people to try. I played ExciteTruck (I was in 1st, yay!), Wii Sports’ Bowling, Wii Sports’ Tennis, and The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess. All of them were awesome, ‘cept Twilight Princess. Why? I only got to try the fishing part of the game! LAME!

Anyway, I was planning on trying to get a Wii on Monday, and this just made it a definite thing. Not sure if I have the cash, but we’ll see what my mom says, eh? Christmas ftw!

Anyway, here I sit, listening to Love. When I started this post, I was listening to the first track, “Because.” Now I’m at the 23rd track, “A Day in the Life.” After that there’s just three tracks ’til the end, and the CD is nearly 80 minutes long. Just so you know, this how long it takes me to write most of my posts. Why? Probably because I re-write them half a dozen times.

Anyway,

The CD is awesome, and my trip really hasn’t been that bad at all. Since I got here, I’ve eaten at A&W at least.. three times. Why? Dunno. Never used to like A&W, but lately I’ve had one helluva hankering for it.

Anyway, just thought I’d share.

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

Bounceback

Last Wednesday, the power went out. Not just a quick thing, or something, no. It didn’t come back until today. Sunday. That’s 5 days, if you don’t want to count them.

I’d like you to sit back and think for a moment on how much I use electronics, and how my life revolves around them. Hell, even when reading a book, I need light, and light = electricity!

I was very nearly unable to do anything at all over those days. Slept upstairs by the fireplace on the floor for some of them, and on a crappy old mattress for the others. Why? Freezing cold downstairs in my room.

So, to recap: Couldn’t eat, I was still recovering from oral surgery–as a quick note, I’m fully healed now. :D I can eat pizza! Yay! Pizza!–and now I had no power, so I couldn’t fill my time with anything else. To top it all off, when I could finally kind of eat on Friday, the plumbing in the house decided to stop working. Yeah. No power, I can finally eat, but now I can’t put the waste anywhere.

Anyway, on Saturday me and my mom went to visit my Uncle George–why did I capitalize Uncle? Is it an official title…?–and we stayed at his place for the day. Well, I went out and saw a few movies to pass the time, but mostly I just sat and relaxed while watching TV with my “Aunt” Kathy.

The movies I saw were “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.“, and “Stranger Than Fiction.” They were both pretty awesome, though personally I think Borat is over-rated.

I then went home, met my mom, George, and Kathy, and it turned out my dad had come to visit. We ordered pizza from a place in New Westminster–which I highly recommend–called Bob & Al’s. We went to bed, and in the morning I found out my dad had left at 3 AM to go gambling. Luckily he won some cash, so we were all set for the rest of the day.

Me, my mom, George, and Kathy all went to the International House of Pancakes and had breakfast. I had what I always get, and as usual, it was awesome. From there we headed back to George’s apartment, grabbed our stuff, and me and my mom headed out. Before catching the 5:20 PM Ferry, we stopped by the Brentwood Shopping Centre to pick up a book at Coles. After that we headed to the FutureShop at the Park Royal Shopping Centre in West Vancouver and got a USB Flash Drive and Final Fantasy XII. Then we headed to the ferry, caught it, ate dinner, and finally got home.

When we got home, we were eccstatic to see that the power was finally back on. And after a few hours of tinkering, I got my new Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic working in Mjolnir. Other than that, I haven’t done much of anything. But I’mm’a go to bed now. I’ve got my German class tomorrow morning, and I’m finally heading back to school after a week of missing it. =\

There’s only one thing I can say about my life right now:
Bounceback.

Blarg, blarg, blarg honk.

Alright, quick update.

I’m still recovering from the oral surgery–wisdom tooth removal, see last post–and I can barely eat. Can’t really bite anything, can’t even fit a toothbrush between my teeth to brush ‘em. So I use mouthwash… Anyway, getting back to the point I was going to make; My life right now kind of sucks. Can’t go to school, feel like crap, etc. But today, something great happened.

My copy of Star Wars: Empire at War – Forces of Corruption Expansion came today. :D
Yep, if you read back, you’ll see that I won a copy from a contest that Xfire, LucasArts, and Petroglyph held. Yay me.
It’s signed by the developers of the game, and it’s awesome.

I also can look forward to the fact that in a few days my new Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic is arriving, so yay.

Also, on the 24th I’m going to Vancouver for the weekend to see the Just For Laughs Comedy Tour, and I’m also going to see a few movies then.

But most of all, I’m looking forward to being able to eat again, because frankly, this sucks.

400th Post Wisdom Tooth Removal Extravaganza!

Yup. I got my wisdom teeth pulled–well, they don’t really pull them. They more seem to… pop ‘em out–and as such, I’ve nothing else to do. Also, I haven’t posted in a few days. For the entire week I felt sick off and on. Probably a mixture of the flu, and dreading having my teeth removed. I feel alright now, though last night was spent mostly spitting out blood and what not. (If that grossed you out, you don’t want to read any more of this post.)

I have been eating “meal supplement shakes” for meals instead of food, and they seem to be working okay. I mean, I’m kind of hungryish, but not enough to eat anything even if I could. The right side of my face is kind of swollen. The left is entirely fine. I can’t clench my teeth together, and it’s kind of hard to close my mouth, but it’s getting easier every hour. Every four or five hours I take an Extra Strength Ibuprofen, just in case the pain gets too bad. It seems alright. In fact, I’m not really in much pain at all. It’s more like mild discomfort. But I still can’t eat for a few days. Well, maybe tomorrow I’ll try eating soup or something.

What else…

Oh, yes. The procedure itself went rather well, save for one tooth. The upper right one took over an hour (I checked the time afterwards) to get out, ’cause it was being stubborn. No pain, really, just awkward. The lower right went fine, in fact, I didn’t even feel it. He just put the tool in, applied the least amount of pressure possible–it felt like a massage, even–and it popped right out. The lower left was similar, no real problem there, and the upper left was sort of awkward, but nowhere near as awkward as the upper right.

Anyway, I’mm’a go back to recuperating. I’m also probably going to watch some Buffy or something.

Wish me luck, good health, and a speedy recovery.

No post today.

I have a headache. :(

But hey, look on the upside. My next post will be number 400! Yay!
