If It Ain’t Got That Swing . . .

So, me and Ben and this other lady have been working on a performance of “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)” for Alternative Voices 2K6 on Wednesday this week. Yep.

Just a workin’ and a workin’, sirs, I swears we are, I swea… wait, what am I doing?

Anyway, Mark is supposed to have a part in the performance as well, but seeing as I know there are people from my school who read this blog, I’ll have to post about it after the event. Let’s just say it’s going to be great, and everyone (’specially Larry) is excited about it. I’ll keep you posted.

P.S. I suck at Battlefield 2.

Napstah’

I’m currently using a free 7-day trial of Napster Premium.. or whatever it is, to download all the music I want for ten-odd dollars a month. A great deal, yeah? Not quite. You can’t /burn/ any of this music to any CDs, or listen to it on more than three PCs. Though there are ways around this, I’m not sure if Napster is the way I’m going to deal in online music. I can safely say that I won’t use Rhapsody (not available in Canada) or the iTunes Music Store (they have some good stuff, but not what I’m looking for, though it is in the US music store. *grumble grumble*). I don’t really like PureTracks (I once got a free 15 download thing from them, used it, got my songs, and oh ho, they don’t play anymore! They did for a while, but now the Licence Acquisition fails. Good thing I burned them to a CD before then. o_o)

Either way, Napster is looking pretty good because they were able to sell me Mindi Abair’s newest album, and I got a few Belle & Sebastian ones with a free eMusic trial, which, after I used it up, I promptly cancelled. Not interested guys, I just like B&S. :D

Either way, online-music-buying doesn’t seem that bad if you concider you can get all the music you want for $10 a month, but you just can’t burn it. But, like I said, there are ways around it. ;)

Mid-May Update

I seem to have worked out all the hardware kinks from Mjolnir. Everything is working just as it should, except my USB keyboard and mouse aren’t turned on at boot. Instead, half-way through Windows or Linux booting, they spring into action. There’s a setting in the BIOS that enables USB keyboard and mouse support, but it seems to have had no effect. So, I keep an o’l PS2 keyboard sitting beside my tower now. No problem.

My PSP works as expected, but is kind of awkward for MP3 playback, so I’m thinking about getting the Griffin SmartShare PSP, and a set of PSP headphones. Yeah, it’s crazy, but I’ll do it. I’ll use my normal headphones to listen to the music, and turn down the volume on the other headphones, and use their remote.. heh. It’ll also work well when me and Ben both want to listen to something on the Memory Stick Pro Duo. (Long name…)

Right now I’ve got a few episodes of The West Wing, a game trailer or two, and some music on the 2 GB stick I got for it. I’m impressed. ;)

P.S. Since I like norse mythological naming conventions, my PSP is “Belldandy.” And, since my mom does not like norse mythology, her laptop is “Sakura.” She’s got a thing for cherry blossoms, as do I. :D

Thoughts

When I first went out and picked up the parts to Mjolnir, I figured I’d document the whole process of building it, and everything, via pictures and blog entries, but then.. it just didn’t seem all that important. I built the computer, installed Windows, ran into problems with my PVR card (bloody thing…) and now everything (‘cept that damn PVR card) works fine.

I’ve got all ‘cept two or three games, and I’m picking them up (along with a PSP) on Monday. La de da.

Anything more, and I’ll feel like I’m bragging. If I take pics of the computer, I’ll upload them to my gallery or to flickr, and post links ‘ere.

For now, my feet are shaking due to the bass in “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” by The Beatles, so I’mm’a go turn down the subwoofer.

Mjolnir

Built Mjolnir, more details to follow. For now, sleep.
