Argon / Weatherlight still apt?
Yeah, I don’t know why, but the codename for the BIOS my board uses that HP affixed to it is “Argon.” So, I flashed my BIOS today, seeing as I had to boot twice before my comp would work properly. ‘Twas the weirdest thing. Now that I’m at 3.06 rather than 3.04, everything is fine. Don’t know, don’t care.

I’ve decided that instead of building a computer (i.e., Weatherlight) I’m going to try and get a desktop-replacement laptop that I can use at school, etc, from either VooDoo, Dslanted eLL, or AlienWare. Currently, I love Voodoo’s number 1 laptop –dude, I can get it in pink– due to it having an AMD 64 and NVIDIA graphics, but it’s so damn expensive. Whereas I could get an Alienware Aurora m7700 with an AMD 64 X2, 2GB of RAM, a GeForce 7800 GTX Go, etc, for less. I think I’m going to go with the Alienware, even though it’s rather.. blue, and rather ugly.
While I’m probably going to be forced to get the Dell XPS instead, I’ve nothing against it ‘cept that it’s Intel, and only 2 GHz. Intel GHz. Ew.
I won’t be able to get the ‘top ’til around … mid to late summer, and even when I do, it might not even be Weatherlight. Although it still makes sense.
Skyship Weatherlight is the vessel used by Gerrard and crew to travel the universe by jumping from plane to plane. While Urza can just ‘walk wherever he pleases, a mortal must use a device designed to do so, that has been created by a Planeswalker and Master Artificer such as Urza.
I think I’ll stick with it for now.
Spoke too soon?
Remember, a post or two ago when I said I wanted that PHP et MySQL book?
Yeah, about that. Well, I seem to have found something much… much better.
Seeing as I could always just read up on those two subjects online rather easily, I’ve decided to go with getting a game, instead. Which one, you ask? Civilization IV.
Why would I want such a game? Well you see, I absolutely love turn-based real time strategy games. I used to play Civ II on an o’l Mac LC ages ago, and I loved it. I’ve never played Civ I, Civ III, or any of the expansions, but I played the Civ IV demo yesterday and my god is it fantastic. So yeah. Civ IV. I’m going to try and convince Ben to get the game as well.
Adobe and Macromedia are One
I found a cool presentation here. While it’s clearly nothing but marketing tripe, a lot of it makes sense. I’m just waiting for “Adobe Flash” and “Adobe Dreamweaver.”
Books
Me and my mom decided we want some books, so we’re ordering a crate of them off of Amazon. How many am I getting? Just one. Granted the one I’m getting is $40 plus tax, and I’m getting a Mozart CD. But my mom? She’s getting about four of five $5 – $10 books. Either way, the book I’m getting is “Beginning PHP and MySQL 5: From Novice to Professional, Second Edition” which is being released on Janurary 30th. So I’ll order it on that day.
