Mininova.
One word: “Mininova.”
The alternative to Suprnova; though.. mini!
It’s shiny.
..Not that I endorce piracy, or anything. Nope. No piracy for Noble. None at ALL.
ISP Troubles..
DCCNet — my ISP — doesn’t like it when you download 30 GB every month, and end up having overage charges of $120 CDN..
I found this out the hard way. They cut me off. Me, man. OFF!
I came home yesterday, and got on my comp. I had plans to download and install Gentoo from within Debian, to /dev/hdb8, but my friend Ben wanted me to play Age of Mythology with him, so, I started up the game after talking to him on MSN and.. –CRASH–
It said: “Connecting to ESO…” for like, 5 minutes, when suddenly my computer crashed. I rebooted into Windows, and there was nothing. ‘Limited or no connectivity.’
Rebooted into Debian; nothing. ‘eth0, link up, blah blah blah, IRQ range here, firmware version, kernel module, blah blahh, unable to connect.’
I almost died, you know. I had /PLANS/ man, /PLANS/!
And then poof, no internet. I finally got it back about 15 minutes ago, and I’m ircing/surfing up a storm, but I can’t upload or download too much this month, so I can’t install Gentoo for another 5 days.
Most of the downloading I had was totally legal, too. Well, there was some music, I guess, but most of it was Linux. I tried Gentoo earlier, with no, y’know, success, ’cause the livecd couldn’t get a DHCP-assigned IP, I tried Fedora — That’s like 4 gigs — Core 3, I tried SuSe 9.2, I transmogrified Libranet into Debian, tried Ubuntu.. That’s 30 GB of Linux, damnit.
Oh well.
New Screenshot
I took a new screenshot of Freya in Linux, heh.
Check it out here, and full-sized here.
Damn you Limewire!
Thats right, I said it. As have all of us at one point or another. We are so simply seduced by the promise of free music and vidio, little did we know it would destroy all the gaming time we have! Sure, it appears a simpple file sharing program, until you try to do ANYTHING! It’s a ram sucking monster! Damn you limewire…. mummble…destroy…burn…mumble… aom, how I miss thee… ( And for those of you who don’t know what limewire is, get out of the fresh air and surf damnit! )
– Ben
I don’t have a title, m’mkay?
Ben came over the other day, and left about.. 4 – 5 hours ago. We played so much Magic and Super Mario World/Super Mario Bros. 3, that we almost wanted to kill ourselves. (Due to the horrific.. um.. horror.) Juggles was over yesterday, and me Ben an’ ‘im had a Magiccon! Or something… yes, something. My Ubuntu CDs came in the mail, as did my Linux Journal, the Buffy DVDs, and a bill for $140 from FedEx.
Yeah, that’s right. They want $140 CDN for customs charges on Freya. >.< Luckily, my mom doesn't want me to pay for it, seeing as Freya was technically a christmas gift.
Sadly, I'm having troubles in a few areas right now, and yes, you're going to hear about them:
1) I want to buy M:TG cards, but I also want the second season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I can only get one now, and one later.. which one will I choose? If I opt to get M:TG cards, I can get like.. 3 - 5 boosters right now. Buffy? Well, let's just say I'll be saving up 'til the end of Feburary. I'll most likely get M:TG cards, and save up to the second week of March for Buffy.
2) I can't get my scrollwheel to work in X11! It works on the Ubuntu LiveCD, the SuSe CDs, and everything except Debian. >.< I might be able to get it working, if I keep trying, I guess.
I've tried copying the settings from the Ubuntu CD, using my own, getting some from Sthitaprajna, I've asked in #Debian, I've followed guides on the 'net, and according to EVERYTHING, it /should/ work.
It just doesn't.
3) I've missed the last to episodes of Buffy on TV! AHH! It's currently in the second episode of the 5th season. And I was going to make up for it by watching Angel tonight, but it wasn't on, because it's friday. Oh, and I missed the new episode of South Park. Hopefully it will still be on at 1 AM.
I've been IRCing a lot lately, but no one ever seems to be online when I'm not busy. >.<
Oh, and I think I’m finally over my cold, so I can go to school on Monday. (Hurrah!)
